Dear Bird Rock Families,

 

In light of the ongoing social distancing due to the COVID-19 and after much thought and deliberation, the Bird Rock Foundation board voted to officially cancel the 39th Annual Bird Rock Gala.  While many of us were looking forward to this cherished event amongst our community and worked tirelessly to provide an unforgettable evening, the safety of our community and the financial stability of our foundation is our top priority.

 

To those of you who have purchased tickets and generously sponsored the gala — we thank you.  Many have already expressed their desire to convert their ticket purchases into donations.  This act of generosity during this uncertain climate is deeply appreciated by the Foundation.

 

We must not forget the CAUSE behind this event.  Historically, our gala generates significant funds (roughly one third) for our budget for the following school year, allowing the foundation to provide our students with enrichment programs.  Our students still need our support next year, so we ask the rest of you to consider donating your ticket purchases. The FMV has been adjusted at this time to reflect a 100% tax deductible donation. If you choose, however, to be refunded, please email bregalaauction@gmail.com and we will do our best to work in a timely manner.

 

At this time, the gala team is working towards placing our remaining items — class art and baskets, wine cellar and live auction items online for an opportunity to bid.  As we recognize this is unchartered territory and uncertainty looms around us as a community, we believe we are sitting on items that could be quite useful during this time spent at home.  We plan to open our online auction on Monday, April 13th at 9 AM and close on Sunday, April 26th at 7 PM.  Our hope is to deliver all the amazing items we have in donations amongst our community members by May 1st.  For previously purchased items from our online auction, if you would like them sooner than May 1st, please contact us at the above email and we can make arrangements with you individually.

 

To address the time sensitive items purchased such as Sign Me Up Parties and Teacher Features I hope you are patient with our gala team as we attempt to work through these items.  Our hope is to reschedule these events and experiences once we are able to do so safely under the guidance of the CDC and lawmakers.  If you choose to be refunded for any of these items now, please feel free to email us at bregalaauction@gmail.com with your requests.
